Itinerary
First stop: stone town.
You will be picked up from your hotel, and head to stone town where you will start your tour with Each twist and turn though the narrow streets of stone town will bring you to something new as you lose yourself in centuries of history
Your guide will walk you towards the top sights in stone town admiring the fascinating architecture of the old forts and their intricate doors, visiting the palace museum, old slave market/Anglican cathedral, local markets, the house of wonders, the birth place of freddie mercury, as well as keeping you informed of stone towns past to its present (this will include some dark time information on slavery) as stone town was a key trading place for slaves’ centuries ago
Will then head to a roof top restaurant for lunch & a walking break, reenergizing while enjoying a top views of stone town
Second stop: Prison islands
After lunch you will walk towards the stone town shore where you will take a 25mins boat trip to prison island.
The name can be intimidating but there is a lot to learn on the history of the island and how they used to house rebellious slaves on the island. however, It’s now a peaceful sanctuary for this vulnerable species, you will see giant old tortoise some over 150 years’ old, some peacocks.
You will then head to the waters for a swim, snorkeling or just relaxing at the beach
Afterwards will take a boat trip back to stone town & walk back to your hotel
Tip: be sure to visit the forodhani gardens (just at the stone town shore) later on as a seafood market opens as the sun sets, in the situation you arrive back late from prison island you will surely visit the forodhani seafood market before heading to your hotel.
